waiting for something that's not coming.

i spent time with Manaslu and Prajita, today.  it's funny how people pop back into your life.

i ran into Manaslu a few days ago when i was going to Sunshine's house.  they live a block apart on the same street.  Manaslu seemed surprised to see me but then she was excited.  she told me her address and that i should come by some time.
"should i call first?"
"mmm....no, it's no big deal."
i felt awkward about that...but i had to remind myself of what i tell other people:  it's not awkward unless you make it awkward.

i walked to their house because it's on my way to work.  i showed up and before i could ring the door bell, i could hear Manaslu screech and yell the very familiar, "maMAY!"  she would always shout that at her mom, last summer.  they were both very excited to see me.  well, Prajita was very excited to see me and Manaslu was excited to see me in a "i'll still watch the Disney Channel while i talk to you" sort of way.  she means well.  :)

Prajita showed me pictures of her son's wedding.  it looked really beautiful.  she told me about the ceremony as best she could.  hindu weddings sound very intricate but really cool.
She asked me if i wanted something to eat and i said i should probably get going to work.  she gave me something to eat anyhow.  :)  it was some kind of greens, potatoes and ocra.  delicious.  then she asked me if i wanted some tea and i said i should get going.  she said, "i'll make you tea, then you go."
i smiled and said okay.  i'm glad i stayed because it was delicious as well.

I wishi  could speak nepali.  Prajita seems like she is a good story teller.  it's unfortunate that a lot of her humor gets lost in trying to find the right words.  she really gets a kick out of some of the things she tells me.  when she things something is really funny, she kind of leans back a little bit and laughs.  it's great.

it was funny being in their presence again.  some things were definitely the same.  Prajita would try and explain something to me but couldn't find the right word.  she'd speak in nepali  to Manaslu to try and find the right word.  Manaslu would respond while watching tv or doing something else.  all the while, i would look back and forth at them...imagine a tennis match of words.
Prajita would always sit close to me and grab my arm or touch my leg when she would talk to me last summer.  even though i hadn't seen her in 9 months (i just now calculated it.  i can't believe it's been that long) she still treated me the same way.

it was  a really great visit.
i was just glad that i ran into Manaslu.  i had lost their number a while ago and because i felt AWKWARD about stopping by without calling...i just never saw them after that.  i felt terrible about that.  i'm glad i was given the chance to redeem myself.

well, if you took the time to read this...thanks.  i appreciate it.  :)
