Conference done

I'm in the last morning of a Public Finance conference in Ann Arbor and I have now mostly recovered from jet lag. Its been an interesting conference, though I think that if I come next year as well that will be better, because then I'll know a good chunk of the people up front. I didn't expect it to be quite so geographically and linguistically cliquey, the Germans mostly hang out with other German speakers etc., but I managed to break down some barriers.

The level of jet lag I suffered made me realize how exhausted I was when I arrived, mentally and physically. Hopefully a few days in NYC will help with that somewhat, since that's actual vacations, if short.

Walking around in a suit as an 'official' economist is still strange to me. Hopefully that will wear off with time and conferences.

It amuses me to realize that it will take more time to get from La Guardia to New Jersey then from Detroit to La Guardia. I understand why, congestion and all, but its still counter-intuitive.

A few more sessions and off to NYC.
