I take it back: The Ouran dub isn't above Funimation standard and I don't know what the hell I heard that made me think that it was. It's that "probably the directing got screwed up somewhere" thing that seems to follow them around because the same VAs do so much better with other companies, but from what I could tell, Ouran isn't particularly well written in English, either. And with a series like Ouran, that is to throw potential out of the window.
On the other hand: Mignona is the best of the bunch, and if I'm lucky, my problem with him might simply have been how wrong his voice is on Edward Elric. Alright, he's harldy blowing my mind with Tamaki either, but my main concern with him is how I can't stand his voice. The fact that Tamaki isn't making my ears bleed in English is - hopefully, considering his popularity - a step in the right direction.
