-Jeff Davis knows what fanservice means and DOES IT. Jackson in shower: superficially has something to do with the plot, but really we just like seeing Colton Haynes naked. Maybe, so does Jeff.
-Lydia IS THE BEST. And this whole thing with Peter, IDK. I do enjoy him, he's so sassy and ridiculous that you have to (remember when he helped Alison pick out her formal dress? AND SHE WORE IT? Seriously.) But I can't accept that DEREK accepts his reappearance so casually. (This is where the werewolf-bisections come in; if Peter had been cut in half, his resurrection would not have been possible. Important detail for strong alpha.) Let's recall that PETER KILLED LAURA JUST BECAUSE HE WANTED TO BE ALPHA. His niece, Derek's (apparently very beloved) sister. Killed her. Because she had something he wanted. Cut her in half. That's harsh. Sooooooo...where is Jeff Davis going with this? IDK, but he'd better fix it.
-I loved Matt. That weird creepiness got me. And I love that they use him to show how Stiles is the most intuitive. STILES NEVER LIKED MATT. Remember the scene in the library, when he's all THAT DUDE'S AN EVIL CREEPER and they show him offering his chips? You don't fool Stiles, son. But the drowning was some unbelievable fucked-up-ness. Wow, Show. Wow.
-Can we talk about how RIDICULOUSLY DYSFUNCTIONAL the Argents are?! We keep hearing about how they're supposedly one of the oldest, strongest hunting families. But we've met a half-dozen or so of them, and somehow Chris Argent is the most sane of them? Let's roll call: Grandpa is a psycho who apparently doesn't give two shits about their Serious Code and would kill his own family to extend his pathetic life. Mama Argent would rather die than be a werewolf, and is A-OK with using her death (in Alison's bedroom! WHY!) to force her daughter to do her bidding i.e. kill werewolves (who were innocent, btw). Aunt Kate was a cradle-robbing psycho who gleefully burned men, women, and children--some of whom were totally human!--to death in their own house then came back once Derek grew up to taunt him about it and finish the job, with bonus torture. Alison--ok can't even with Alison. Her unquestioning turn-about after her mother's death angered me SO MUCH. UGH. I know teenagers can be fickle and flip-floppy, but she 180-ed so fast (and again in the finale!) that I had whiplash.
-I didn't think of it, but y'know, Scott should have been able to smell that in the punch. Maybe it's just another case of Scott being a baby wolf and his senses aren't super-honed yet? Or him being his usual oblivious self? Or just a plot hole. Any is believable.
-Boyd needs more everything. Including a last name, please. I'm hoping we get a lot more of him in S3, since his and Erica's capture by the Alpha pack is a Big Deal.
-Scott's place in Derek's pack is strange and tenuous. Because his Alpha is Peter, and Peter died (his resurrection apparently didn't resurrect Scott's feelings of allegiance? This isn't explained.) then he doesn't really have a pack the same way the other wolves do. Peter was his pack. All of it. So to be in Derek's pack, he has to choose to be in it. And I don't know how they cement that, or make it official or whatever. But they keep hinting around that Scott will be an alpha on his own. Derek says earlier that Scott doesn't want him as his alpha because he's his own alpha, with his own pack. And then in the finale, they hint at it again. So the big question here is: what does Scott have to do to actually become an alpha? I don't think he has to kill Derek, because there's no hints in that direction, not to mention that Derek doesn't seem at all concerned about this possibility. So is it because his "pack" (which at the time really just consisted of Alison and Stiles) doesn't have any other wolves in it? If he stole Isaac (this strikes me as a strong possibility), would he be an alpha then? Or does he have to make another wolf? SO MANY QUESTIONS.
