30 Day Meme: JAPAN
DAY 05 - Which, if any, Japanese mannerisms or expressions have you adopted?
while in Japan i adopted a lot of mannerisms, from being ridiculously indirect (= "polite") to hand gestures (such as waving my hand from side to side to mean "no"), but some have stuck with me even after 2+ months of living in Australia. for example, i still do the hand waving thing; i still say "tadaima" when i get home and "otsukare" to David; i still bow my head slightly at people in acknowledgement/greeting despite my best effort; i still use "genki" and other untranslatable words although mostly to myself & animals etcetcetc. i'm also hoping to adopt/implement a no-shoes-indoors policy at our new apartment. :)

DAY 05 - Your favorite quote
"I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing." - Agatha Christie
"I don't spend much time thinking about whether God exists. I don't consider that a relevant question. It's unanswerable and irrelevant to my life, so I put it in the category of things I can't worry about." - Wendy Kaminer
