(old photo from Nekobukuro in Japan)

yesterday was orientation at the RSPCA! :D things went well as it was all pretty basic. was told stuff about the RSPCA, the role that volunteers play (apparently there are around 500 volunteers at the shelter i'm working at vs only 250+ paid staff D:), was given a tour and a brief lesson on dog and cat behavior (ie. how to avoid getting mauled). i met the person that i'll be working under and a few of my co-workers along with several other new volunteers. i look forward to starting. :]

3 days ago i went to the shelter to make sure i knew how to get there before the orientation. of course once i got there i had to go inside.... and of course i went straight to the cattery.... and of course i fell in love with some of the cats. i swear i'm a sadist or something... even while i was in Japan i often looked at cats up for adoption on sites and i've been doing the same here. all of the cats at the shelter i knew before i even saw them for the first time in person. ;( and of course i keep telling myself that once i get a job and have money i'll bring one of them home completely aware of the fact that any cat that i fall for may be adopted out or euthanased before then....

....i have some of the most self-destructive tendencies... >_>;

anyway, i'm looking forward to working for the RSPCA and doing my best to help the animals find homes! gotta take the bad with the good for the greater good.... *nods to self* yep.

in other news, i have an interview tuesday morning. a GROUP interview. for an uppity department store that i really don't want to work at but whatever. money is money when you really need it, right? and it'd only be temporary. i applied for a Christmas (5 month) position and may not even get many hours from it. i'm really stressing out about the interview as i've never done a group interview before and from what i hear the things that the recruiters look for aren't things that i'm any good at.... but i need the money so i can't NOT try for the job.

hoping that some of the other jobs that i've applied for come through in time. having more options would really be nice. :/

btw, to any Esperantists out there who happen to read this blog but not my Esperanto one, i uploaded a videoblog thingie to Youtube in Esperanto. check it out if you like. for the non-Esperantists, there's 7mins or so of Brisbane "middle-of-the-city nature" in the vid if you care to watch.

esperanto, photos, work, stuff, cats, videos, interview, meh
