just got back from going to the movies for the first time since i`ve been here. i saw "L: Change the World", the latest live action movie in the Death Note series. it was pretty good imho. :D
*faux-dances around* L kicked asss, L went out with a BANG!
L FOREVER!!
^-^
the movie was of course subtitle-less for the most part, but i feel i was able to follow about 80% of it. :] that`s not to say that i understood 80% of the words that were used as there were plenty of scientific and medical terms used that i know nothing about, but even without knowing those specific details i was able to fully enjoy the movie. SCORE ONE for my Japanese comprehension skills. :D but yeah, when it comes out on DVD i`m getting it to add to my Death Note movie collection and i`m going to rewatch it with Japanese subtitles so i can guess at the kanji of the words i didn`t know, or so i can look them up. there was only one important part at the end that i didn`t get... D: but i wont say what it was because i don`t want to give out any spoilers. :3
but anyway, i`m very happy that the movie was made and that i went to see it in theaters. ^-^ i loved L a lot before seeing this movie, but i love him even more after having seen it. i think it did really well developing the L that is outside of the anime and manga series that the movie goers may or may not have seen or read. L is so awesome! >:D i think Kenichi Matsuyama did a good job at playing L. :3 i`m sure it`s been a hard role to play.
but aside from the movie itself, going to a theater for the first time in Japan was an interesting and expensive experience. Japanese theaters are hella expensive to get into! it was 17$ just for 1 person`s general admission ticket! it`s robbery i tell you. but the concession stand had some really nice stuff to offer. not cheap either, but it wasn`t more expensive than you`d see in an American theater. unlike at (most) American movie theaters, the seats at this theater were assigned. i got to pick my seat when i purchased the ticket. the other seeming major difference to me was that most people stayed in their seats until the very end of the credits, whereas in America most people are making their way out of the theater as soon as the credits start. there was also a little shop in the theater selling movie memorabilia. overall, it was a nice theater and a nice experience.
out of the few movie trailers that were shown before the start of the movie there were 2 trailers that interested me, both of which have movies premiering in March. one was an American movie, "Jumper". i don`t know long ago this movie released in America, but it definitely looked interesting and i want to see it. the other was "Sweet Rain: 死神の精度", of which you can check out the trailer
here. looks like i may be visiting the theater again in the future, cept Sweet Rain comes out just as i leave for America. :`[ i like the movie`s seemingly signature phrase 「君は、死ぬことについてどう思う?」 ("What do you think about `death`?"). it looks to be an interesting story of forbidden love between a God of Death and the women he is to decide the fate of. :3 ふ~ふ~! or atleast thats what i understand of the plot.
ohhh, completely unrelated but still report-worthy to me-- Kaldi`s had Honey Nut Cheerios! HONEY NUT CHEERIOS-- ONE OF MY FAVORITE CEREALS THEY WERE CARRYING!! DDD: omgggg. there i was, about to be bummed because they were all out of Maple and Brown Sugar Quaker Oatmeal when i look to my left and see Honey Nut Cheerios! :`D i had just recently found a Honey Nut Cheerios-wannabe cereal called Delios and was intending to pick up more of it while at JUSCO before leaving when i found the real thing in Kaldi`s!! good thing i had decided to stop by Kaldi`s first! xD i love you Kaldi`s! i snatched up two boxes and would have gotten a third had i had the money on me for it. :3 who knows if Kaldi`s will be stocking the cereal for long, so i wanted to make sure i have a stash just in case they stop carrying it. but i suppose i`ll be going to America soon enough and i can stock up on it there. but i`m sooooo happy. :D on top of seeing an awesome movie, finding this cereal has made my day awesome. 8) my feet are doin well too.
tomorrow i have to teach a sucky pre-planned lesson plan at an E.S. i don`t look forward to it at all, but atleast i`ll have awesome cereal in the morning. ^-^
