back from the hospital. the doctor(s) that i saw today (different doctors than the last two i`ve seen) concluded that my right foot should be well enough now to recover on its own, so my foot wasn`t redressed and wrapped this time. they (two doctors looked at my foot this time) said that i shouldnt need to come to a hospital again unless it gets ( Read more... )

I'm really sorry to hear about your grandpa, I hope he gets better. Also, I hope your feet stop hurting too! Your past couple posts sounded pretty depressing:( But the post about the hospital in Japan was really interesting. Was it expensive to see the doctor? Oh, I was wondering, Does JET pay very good? I heard that they don't really, and only pay for some of the rent. But anyway, maybe you could put plastic bags around your feet when you shower? It sounds really painful!

i had to pay around 12$ the first visit and 7$ the second and third visit. not bad, but that was with my insurance (provided by JET) covering part of it.

as far as i know, JET has the best pay of any job of its kind in Japan. yes, only part of the rent is paid for, but the salary you are paid as a JET makes paying the rest of the rent easy.

putting plastic bags on my feet wont help as it is the heat i need to protect them from, not the water. but thanks anyway.

wow, that sounds like a pretty good price for a hospital visit. By the way, did you do anything special before you applied to JET to help your chances of getting accepted? I was wondering if doing an exchange program would help. Only two more years before I can apply!

sorry for the late response.

i didn`t do anything special. i had never been out of the country and had no real teaching experience. i just had a BA in linguistics and a minor in japanese.

i don`t think doing something special will make much of a difference in your application.
