Making new friends

It has been a week or so since the incident with the Wight and his fateful meeting with Doctor Evangeline Nix. The first few days after, it had seemed like he had done nothing more than sleep as his body rapidly (more rapidly than the normal human would) healed

Nigel smiled at the sound of her voice. "Doctor Nix, Nigel Griffin. I was calling to see about repaying you for your kindness to me. I hope I'm not calling at a bad time."

""There is a nice pub, not far from your place, unless you would like something a bit more upscale."

"Nigel, please. When would be convenient to meet you or would you like me to pick you up?" he asked.

"Would 6 be fine?" he asked. Late enough to have a bite to eat, but not too early for drinks.

"I'm looking forward to it," he said as he disconnected.

At six, he was at the pub, sitting at the bar, waiting for her. He was dressed casually, but smartly. Nice slack, blazer, and button down shirt.

Nigel stood as she approached. "Doctor Nix, a pleasure again, but please call me Nigel," he said, motioning for her to lead the way to a table he had reserved for them.

"I'm feeling much better, thanks to you," he told her, holding her chair out for her to sit. His manners were much older than he appeared.

"Old habits," he said with a smile as he sat. "And I know you're not shrinking violet, but a fellow should treat a lady nicely, especially when he owes her his life."
