Writer's Block: Forbidden Reading

Clan of the Cave Bear. Nuff said. But I, like the OP, knew where her stash was, so I read them at night, under the cover with the Magnalite. Once she caught me, she pretty much let me read what I wanted. I read things like:

Interview with the Vampire series
The rest if the Clan series
All of Joan Collins' books
The V.C. Andrews series
The Joy of Sex (1 ( Read more... )

writer's block, ya, teen reading

I didn't have to hide anything I was reading from my mother. But then, my mother is unconventional, to say the least. I did however have to hide stuff from my grandmother because she would give my mother so much grief that she was letting me read "that trash". Mostly the Judy Blume books. I stopped letting my grandmother know *anything* I was reading by about 12... Interestingly there were a number of things that my mother said she would have rather not know I was reading, but she never once tried to censor what I read.

Erotique Noire. My momma and her girlfriends had it...my girlfriends and I used to sneak and read it. I had my own copy but then in a fit of trying to be Super-Christian, I threw it away.

I could kick my own ass for THAT one...
