The thousand delegates at the 2020 summit this weekend are supposed to come up with three policy ideas per group, one of which has to cost nothing. Clearly another 2020-style summit would not be one of them, as it's costing Australian taxpayers who knows how many thousand dollars and is bound to achieve absolutely nothing in real terms.
I mean seriously, all this media attention and public bleating about a complete and total waste of time and money is just sickening. The fact that it's even going ahead at all is ridiculous. Every idea coming out of it that's been reported so far is either completely unworkable in the real world, wildly fanciful or just plain stupid. Or all three.
At the end it will of course be hailed as a resounding success and everyone will pat each other on the back at what a good job they've done in making the country a better place, even though the practical net result will be zero.
Already sick of this hollow, two-faced, patronising government. This summit is symbolic of how much they suck.
Cynical? Maybe. Doesn't make me wrong.
