Inauguration Reactions
The wonderful IT gentlemen at my company set up a TV in the breakroom so we could watch the inauguration speech during lunch. Out of all of it, two things gave me hope for this term.
1) Numerous times he mentioned the environmental issues and needing to find new energy sources. By giving it such prominence I hope he will follow through and get more Americans to be environmentally conscious.
2) "The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."
This makes me hopeful that we may yet see equality for all Americans. We've come a long way in women's rights, racial rights, and religious rights, yet we still are lagging on homosexual rights.
