I had no idea what I was talking about when I said last weekend was crazy...this past weekend topped everything!
Friday wasn't too bad, I just had to watch the kids in the evening, because Peter & Ximena went out. Saturday and Sunday, however, were another story!
Olivia had a ballet recital/performance this weekend. The ballet school she goes to only does this every 4 years, so this was a big deal. There were 3 performances in all, one Sat night & 2 on Sunday. So, Peter decided to invite his aunt (the kids' great aunt) for dinner on Saturday & then his mom and his brother's family over for brunch on Sunday. Then, everyone could get a chance to see Olivia. Everyone was invited about 2 weeks before-hand and everything promised to go smoothly. Until....Peter had leave on a business trip Saturday afternoon!! So, we were suddenly short one adult. Which wouldn't have been so bad, except Ximena had volunteered as a back-stage helper for 2 of the 3 performances and for practically half the time wouldn't be at the house! It was a mess...
Suffice it say Ximena and I were exhausted by Sunday evening...I will save you all the gorey details, but somehow we managed to make dinner for Sat night (w/ her gone for 1 1/2 hours, driving to pick up the great-aunt), entertain Great-Aunt, got to the 7pm performance (which wasn't over til 9pm), take Great-Aunt back home (poor Ximena was gone til midnight), have Grandma and Uncle over for the Sun afternoon performance (fortunately we were able to skip doing brunch) with cake and coffee afterwards, and then finally wrap up the day with the evening performance that finished at 7:30pm. Ugh. And here's the ironic part: Olivia was on stage a total of probably 6 minutes the entire weekend!
The weekend wore me out enough that at German class last night, I was such a zombie that I couldn't even think of words in my own language! My poor teacher must have wondered what was wrong with me, lol.
As you could expect, I am ready to start vacation time, yippee!! We are off to Barcelona, Spain, tomorrow afternoon! I'll let you know all about it ASAP and promise to take (and upload, I know, I know) lots of pictures!
