While we're on the topic of books, I went to the library yesterday to pick up the two John Green books I ordered. I was only expecting to have Looking for Alaska, (because WG, WG had to be shipped in) but Will Grayson, Will Grayson was there, too. I was so excited I started jumping up and down. Luckily we were the only ones there. X'D
~Stargirl: Jerry Spinelli's a great author, and this book (in my opinion) is one of his best. It's about an eccentric girl who goes to high school for the first time after being home-schooled for all of her life. When I say eccentric, I mean like pet rat, pioneer dresses, delivering birthday presents to people she doesn't know, etc. The main character, Leo, falls in love with her and the book spans the length of the school year. It's about individuality and valuing what you have. It's really good; I'd highly recommend it.
~Warriors series: "The Erins" have influenced my entire writing style. (I say Erins because it's written by three ladies.) The first series stars a young housecat who stumbles upon an entire organization of warrior cats living in the woods behind his house. He joins and the series chronicles his adventures through his rise to power. The second series stars his children, and the children of the main charcters of the first series as they set out on a journey to solve a prophecy from their ancestors. The third series stars their children, and a prophecy concerning three grandkits of the leader of one of the clans. This series is for those who like adventure, fantasy, and...cats. If you don't like cats, you probably shouldn't pick this up.
~Sherlock Holmes: Ahhh, my guilty pleasure. Several short stories and novels tell the story of detective Sherlock Holmes, whose power of deduction enable him to solve many murders, kidnappings, and disappearances; all with the help of faithful Dr. Watson, the metaphorical Wilson to Holmes' House. Really should be read by everyone (it's a literary classic) but especially by those who like mysteries.
Well, I'm off to read more of Looking for Alaska. Best wishes! 8D
