The Impossible Asronaut Recap/Review/I DON'T EVEN KNOW
If this comes out making any sense at all, I will be infinitely surprised.
So my living situation right now means I have no television, and a really REALLY slow internet connection, so I had to go to Starbucks and watch this episode on my computer - WORST DECISION EVER. Not because of Starbucks itself, just for the simple fact that I couldn't react to the episode out loud. In my head I was all like:
But I couldn't explode all over paying customers.
Stupid real people.
AnyWHO (see what I did there? Haha... yes, I amuse myself greatly), to the main event.
Well, the main event is that my brain exploded, but I'll try to wade through the mess.
First I want to talk about the title of this episode. Well, more ask "Why is the astronaut impossible?" On this show, the only thing we've ever run into that's "impossible" (and that's actually said out loud) is Rory at the Pandorica - but that wasn't impossible, that was a Rorybot. But this astronaut is impossible, so much so that it's in the title. Why?
Oh, you wanted an answer? The answer is...impossible to say :)
Onwards.
So the first Doctor we saw was 200 years older, which I found to be awesome. Mainly because in 200 years the people he trusts most are still Amy, Rory, and River - which is kind of really (really) sad and awesome at the same time. Because I love all these companions ridiculously a lot, and it always sucks to see them leave and know that they might just be a number to the Doctor - not that he didn't care for them, but that as he goes on he purposefully doesn't think about past companions because it would hurt too much. So it's really interesting to me that he would choose these three (well four, including the guy I recognize from BSG) to be there.
Why these three? Did the Doctor know he was going to die? Rory seemed to think so, as he said something about "inviting people to your own wake" - but why would the Doctor go there if he knew he was going to die? Unless he wanted to die. But then why invite your past self; why invite people you know want to save you? MY BRAIN.
But really, why these three four?
And then said Doctor dies. This is the part where I legitimately had to stop myself from crying in the middle of a public place.
Oh my, seriously, SADNESS FOREVER AND EVER. Not only was my mind yelling WHHHYYYY, but also WHAT?! So the Doctor dies, and I want to cry even more when Amy starts sobbing over his body. Just, horrible and sad.
Amy was totally breaking my heart - I know the other two were being level headed or whatever, but I would have been exactly like Amy in that moment. :'(
Obviously I knew something was going to happen to bring the Doctor back, because we clearly weren't going to have a show called 'Doctor Who' without a Doctor, but I think they still managed to infuse enough urgency and sadness into his death that when he walked out in the diner, I was genuinely as confuzzled as our trio of companions.
Then on to the part where the trio aren't allowed to say anything about Future!11 to Current!11 - I think I'm with Amy on this one. Not logically of course, but if I were in this situation (if only) I would definitely want to tell him. I mean, this horrible thing just happened and now they're just supposed to let it play out? Sad forever.
Creepy Mouthless Creepers (CMC): SO CREEPY. I like the relation (in terms of the way they are creepy) to the Weeping Angels - another thing you can't look away from, but this time because you'll forget they were there in the first place. I think that might be worse than the Weeping Angels...I don't know. They tie for 'Creepy Ass Monster of the Year FOREVER'.
And they totally exploded that lady in the bathroom - IMPORTANT: He (it?) exploded her with lightning that looks exactly like the lighting in the opening credits. Also, it knew who Amy was, and wanted her to tell the Doctor about the future. Why? There was one present when the Doctor died, so...I'm not really sure what to think, but they told Amy for a reason. Logically it would seem that they know that Amy was the one who wanted to tell him in the first place, but how would they know that? River said that they'd been around for centuries, and they could easily be retconned into previous seasons due to their power of forgetfulness.
So somehow they know that Amy's the weak link when it comes to the Doctor - they did see her in the future mourning the most obviously as well - so they go after her to make the Doctor aware of when he'll die. What good would that do them? I'll have to go back and rewatch to be sure, but I think Future!11 said something about "letting it all play out" before he went to die. But clearly he doesn't want it to play out, because he invited himself...
...Okay, I think it's time to move on.
Yes! We've come to Amy's pregnancy, whatever she wanted to actually tell the Doctor, and the little girl in the spacesuit.
Speculations:
I don't know if it's connected to the CMC or if it's relevant to a separate story, but I definitely think it's important: both Amy and River complained of some kind of stomach problem. I know Amy's technically could have been related to her pregnancy (more on that later), but I really do feel it was deliberate that they both mentioned it. Those kinds of things always seem to be really important later.
That brings me to Amy's pregnancy, and to a certain extent the ever-curiouser case of River Song. Basically, nothing on this show is ever as it seems, and I with therefore be floored if Amy's pregnancy turns out to be just a normal baby. My first thought is simple: Amy might not be pregnant. Why would she say she was? I have zero clues.
My second thought was that Amy's child is River Song, and that said child is the little girl in the spacesuit. River said the Doctor met her when she was very young, so I think it's certainly a possibility. It would also make sense for River to kill the Doctor, as he does seem important enough to her to be the "best man [she] ever knew", soo...seriously, I was just trying to plan out how to explain my crackpot theory and I confused myself. Simply put, River could be the little girl in the spacesuit.
That's my best idea as to Amy's pregnancy, but a full list of possibilities (no matter how unlikely) might look something like this:
1.) No baby
2.) Rory's the father, River's the baby
3.) Eleven's the father, River's still the baby
4.) My brain hurts
5.) It's some completely crazy other possibilty so far out there it didn't even make this list
6.) The baby is just a normal baby
Now, the mystery of River Song. I can honestly say that I don't have enough energy to try and suss out who she is. I feel like her being the Doctor's wife/love interest at this point is so...expected. Which makes me think that it's something else entirely, but what I have no idea. I would feel a bit squicked out if she was related to him (same if Amy was somehow related to him), so I don't think that's it. But I don't know, maybe with this one thing they will choose the easy road of making her the Doctor's wife, but I really think there is something MAJOR that we don't know.
MY BRAIN.
Am I missing something? I don't even know. Forgive me for being so disorganized - this is what my brain looks like before editing.
I'd LOVE to discuss theories with you all, so PLEASE feel free to explode your brain all over the comments. Obviously, I'm a rambler, so there's no judgement here :)

OH I totally forgot about Rory...but then again, he didn't do much so... yeah. I will say though (because every-time I read ANYTHING about last seasons finale, they always get this wrong) that as adorable as Rory is, he did not wait for Amy for 2000 years. A robot version of him did. Rory was dead. Yes, the robot was an exact duplicate, but it still wasn't him, so logically our Rory shouldn't remember anything passed when he died in 'Cold Blood'.
EDIT TO ADD: I had another thought about the whole "Impossible Astronaut" thing - I think it might have to do with Amy. The Doctor is always calling her "Mad, impossible, Amy Pond". What do you think?
ETA Take 2: The CMC's were wearing suits...why? They seemed to be dressed like FBI agents or something. Random, yes, but you never know what might be important later.
Alright, NOW discuss :D
