I almost turned my phone into a fancy $500 paperweight yesterday. How you ask? Well, if you have an iPhone, G1, er anything of the sorts I'm sure you've heard of jail breaking it; gaining root access. Well, I got the balls to go through with it & dun dun dun... no problems. I got the rc33 update before it was released, all gravy. WELL, I uploaded a custom theme to put the icing on the cake... but apparently the theme was for the rc30 update & that's a big no no. My phone locked up & wouldn't go pass the G1 boot screen... boy, did my heart start pounding. I was like "FUCK! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I HAD SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS!" After about 2 hours of stressful googling I didn't find a fucking thing on how to reverse this shit. Well, that lil light bulb in my head lit up. I still had my broken ass HTC Wing that uses a micro SD card aswell; screen doesn't work, what's it good for? Well let me tell you! I put my card in it, plugged it in via usb, copied the rc33 files back onto it, put that shit back in my G1, reinstalled that shit, & I've got a brand new G1 with root access rc33. Turns out that Wing was good for something after all. Thank god I decided to keep it.
Now, what did I learn? Not a damn thing. Nah, I'm just kitten. Do some research before you go & venture into the unknown... specially when you've got a big chance of losing something that's very important to you. If I would've done that this whole stress filled event would've been avoided 'cause they clearly say that you cannot use rooted rc30 themes with a rooted rc33 phone.
Now, what did I learn? Not a damn thing. Nah, I'm just kitten.
