This is a Bonarda as bottled by Bodega J and F Lurton-Mendoza. (The J F stands for Jacques Francois) It is a 2006 from somewhere in Argentina. This would not be part of the mystery box wines.
I really like the Bonarda. Charbono of California is widely grown in Argentina as Bonarda, and is heavily planted in Argentina. It originates in Savoie, where it is known as Corbeau or Douce Noir, and may be the same as Piedmont's Dolcetto. This is a heavy red. The aftertaste is distinctive and reminds me of chicory in coffee at expensive restaurants.
I feel that I should drink some more whites, as my palate seems rely too much on reds. Although I do love my reds.
