Today was our final day of work - kids finished Wednesday, we got ourselves all nice and professionally developed yesterday, then we had workday/checkout/final meetings today. Spent a little over four hours cleaning tornado debris out of a field this afternoon. Am exhausted, both mentally and physically. I did take some pictures, which I'll post in the near future. In some ways it wasn't as bad as I had imagined, but in others it was so much worse. But all I want to do now is go to bed.

As I drove to the junior high today, the Little Man In the Radio disclosed that the current temperature was -17F. This was at 10:15 AM. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 25, which while still being Pretty Damn Cold, is almost 40 degrees warmer than today. That kind of boggles my mind. It's like one day being 55 and the next, 90. I'm trying to find a bunch of those Sweet Valley Kids and Sweet Valley Twins books to use with some of my low readers. I've tried garage sales, ebay, craigslist, freecycle, Goodwill, etc., and either can't find them, or they're too expensive. I had this big post written about how I hate the last few days of the school year because they're so busy and stressful and end-y, but really, what it boils down to? I feel like I've run out of time. For many, many things. And that always gets me down.

I am spending tomorrow afternoon helping build a 17.5-foot-tall Eiffel Tower out of cardboard, hot glue, and black duct tape. Why? For prom, of course. Because really, for what other reason would anyone NEED a 17.5' cardboard Eiffel Tower ( Read more... )
