Since the beginning of last summer I have played in three D&D campaigns and a brilliant one shot in Berkeley. Only recently have I finally managed to reduce my gaming to a single campaign, which meets on average every other week. I just started playing a new character, since I never managed to connect with the erstwhile NPC I originally inherited. I have a good feeling about this half-elven druid I've created, though I wish I had had more time to prepare. Tonight's session was a bit wacky, anyway. I think most of the players were tipsy; I probably finished the champagne from dinner way too fast, after having found that I actually liked the taste. For me, the high point was when Jonobie's character found the magical items jeffford had given me for starting equipment, before the party managed to resuscitate my character. I completely failed to maintain a straight face when she started experimenting with the Bag of Tricks. (It's a magic item that appears to be an empty sack, but a character can reach inside to obtain a fuzzy ball, which when tossed to the ground becomes some random animal, like a black bear. Not remembering that only one such magical animal can exist at a time, I nearly lost it when she emptied the thing of all seven available uses and stood wondering what to do with an armful of "hairy balls". Ah, maybe you had to be there.)

This is a fun tool for generating random personalities for new characters. I reliably find that I can't make up interesting characters out of the blue but instead need some sort of starting point. I've long thought that I ought to try my hand at writing fan-fiction, but I never have enough free time.
