Lyra is home. Poor wee baby was shaking from head to toe when she got her first look at her new life. Chipper was especially scary since apparently Lyra has never seen a cat, and Chewie did offer a few skeptical woofs. Since then everyone has touched noses without fear or animosity, and Lyra is now sleeping beside me in the living room with the rest of the herd. I think when she is quite a bit older she will be a fabulous agility dog. She was faster than her brothers and loves to run, but she also seems quite bright. Not that it matters. She's a darling little dog.
Chewie is hanging in. She's on 6 different medications, the net result being an increase in energy. Unfortunately her appetite still waxes and wanes and the excessive drinking means three minimum trips out during the day and two at night. Since I'm on "vacation" for the next week I'm going to keep a good eye on her progress or lack thereof.
And guess what I came home to today? The A/C is on the fritz. It did something sketchy about a week ago but I thought it was a surge of some sort. Tonight it won't come on at all. Thank goodness the temperature is supposed to be moderate over the weekend as I'm pretty certain I can't get it serviced under warranty over the weekend. I just don't get how in this day and age a new refridgerator and new A/C system can possibly malfunction. It's not like either of these things feature particularly new technology. I'm glad my I have a home warranty, but it still costs be $75 I don't really have with all of the unexpected vet bills. Time to start eating Budget Gourmet.
Returning to the notion of vacation I'm taking the time to regroup. Some social activities planned, but mostly just time to clear my head and get more on top of things. Between work and home I feel like I'm buried in paperwork that needs a better home than a pile on my desk. My closets also need purging, I need to finish painting the guest bathroom, the car needs to be detailed, the garage needs to be swept and hosed, I want to play with my critters, get some extra rides on Otto, and push myself on some runs. I will have to do some work from home and pop in here and there, but it's part of the need to be a little further ahead of the curve.
