So imagine my horror today as I tried to log into Joystiq.com (as I do every night at work) to discover that the company's super l33t fire wall (called Sonic Wall) has blocked, not just Joystiq, but ALL WEBSITES under the "gaming" category! That means no Kotaku, no gametrailers, no Penny-Arcade!? *Sigh* not even Gamespot or IGN would work, the ( Read more... )

Well, I can only check out the front page of the RSS feeds (no clicking "after the jump or break" to see a full article). But while I may do a lot of browsing at work (though even less since I can't get to Game Trailers!) I have noticed that I have been playing less games at home in the past week or so. I think the only thing I did in the whole of last week (outside of the SF4 party) was do practice mode in....SF4 9__9 There are definitely more, shall we say, significant titles I could be exploring, but it seems I've been using the spare time for other things like yard work, errands, and now drawing on this commission. Thing of it is, I don't seem to be feeling that 'ache'; that controller shaped hole hasn't really been a nagging issue because I've been so busy with family dinner this, coffee shop that, and house party this.

This goes in line with what I said about Splinter Cell Conviction--that I really liked what they were doing, but felt like I was reaching a stage where I just want to see the spectacle and not spend time playing...like I would be happy to see the game played out in the optimal way with the most wow-factor. I think I could live with that. Isn't that cCRAZzyY1!?

But seriously, if you could find me some bootleg or avi file of somebody recording all the cutscenes/significant dialogue from FF12, I'd love to see it. Don't feel like level griding, just want to do a 'movie mode' with that one.

However, with games like Valkyria Chron, yeah, I still want the thrill of having a plan come together perfectly. And the story in that one is just passable enough to keep me going, and believe it or not I am finding myself actually caring about what happens to the characters. Except Herbert. He doesn't want to fix my tank, he's on his own.

Haha, I understand that feeling. There are some games where I just need to see a snippet or two to feel like I've gotten enough out of it, but only a few games I really feel I need to play. RE5 is one of those "I just need to see it" kind of deals.

Herbert is the man compared to Hans. I hope they make winged bacon out of him at the end of the game.
