So imagine my horror today as I tried to log into Joystiq.com (as I do every night at work) to discover that the company's super l33t fire wall (called Sonic Wall) has blocked, not just Joystiq, but ALL WEBSITES under the "gaming" category! That means no Kotaku, no gametrailers, no Penny-Arcade!? *Sigh* not even Gamespot or IGN would work, the lowest of the internet news food chain.
I don't know what it was that suddenly prompted the company's admin to block alllll the sites I love to gloss over...I wondered if this was somehow a specific attack on my web habits, but then I remembered that almost everyone down here in the mailroom does some interet time wasting with gaming related sites. Not news sites, but actual Flash game sites--and some people used to play online poker on the company's dime too. So I guess it was kind of a productivity killer....but I looooveed doing all my web browsing at work when it was slow so I could have time to do other things at home (Which is why you hardly ever see me in the CPU room at night, Sco77)
On the other hand, I instantly thought what the immediate consequences would be:
1) spending more LoL time in the CPU room with everyone
2) Reading my actual books more often and digging through the queue
3) Spending my 45 min break time with actual drawing perhaps?
4) Looking over Livejournal (and actually blogging!) more often
5) More Facebook checking....aww sweet I just realized that I can still check RSS feeds without actually going into 'games' related websites!
...well it was intresting wondering what I'd be doing with my sudden spare time, but that passed pretty quickly. =D See you guys next month when I randomly decide to update again!
