"Where's Juliet?" Ben didn't ask immediately (though, that's his first thought), but when he finally asked he instantly felt he shouldn't have done it.
"She's gone." Only a whisper, but exactly the words he was afraid of to hear. He tried to believe gone meant safe - but he knew Juliet wasn't safe.
He could easily blame Jacob or the island - but it would be wrong.
He did this to her, and in the end it didn't matter who made him do it.
He was weak, he let them use him.
"I'm sorry," he said quietly, looking the other way to hide tears he no longer could hold back.
