Oh my goodness. I haven't updated in a while.
For those of you that aren't friends with me on the Facebook, my sinuses took a huge turn for the worse a week and a half ago.
I still have no idea what happened, but I'm thinking that when the stent that was placed during surgery and was infused with prednisone started breaking down (as it was supposed to), everything started to swell again. And after five surgeries in 3 years, the nerves in my sinuses are especially sensitive.
The pain was so bad. So intense. Just as bad as when I was wheeled out of surgery a month ago.
After weeks of blowing through pain meds I finally decided to try a small burst of prednisone. It took four days for the prednisone to start to work, but the pain is finally manageable again without having to exceed my prescription instructions and I'm not taking way more ibuprofen and tylenol than is recommended. Still a little more, but not way more.
Shit with my doctors is still unpleasant, but I've had a semi-reprieve from dealing with some of them for a while.
Tomorrow I'm going back to see my sinus doctor for the millionth time since surgery, and friday I'm going in to see my primary care physician. I'm actually nervous about that one.
My mother-in-law will be going with me to lend some credibility to my story. I don't dislike my PCP really, but the fact that she takes other doctors words who don't know me over mine, is upsetting. And is having some long-term ramifications.
In other news, the bean woke up at 3:30 in a panic and I couldn't get her back to sleep until 8:00. I've been sleeping on a palette in the living room just so my thrashing and coughing and moaning won't wake up Evan and the bean at night, so I drifted in and out of sleeping while Sesame Street was on and Violet played like a baby zombie. Eventually she came and cuddled against me but when she'd start to doze off she'd get startled awake and flip her shit again, like everything was my fault.
Poor silly kiddo.
She always falls asleep the same way. Her process starts on her back and she wiggles and sighs, and giggles and is just over the top adorable. Then she'll flip onto her stomach and get a few more wiggles out. Lately she's been making animal sounds while half asleep which is again, over the top adorable.
If everything is right, she'll fall asleep. But she won't fall asleep any other way, so that means no falling asleep while cuddling.
