Destry Rides Again (1939)

The Most Charming Man Ever To Grace The Silver Screen (Jimmy Stewart) stars as Tom Jefferson Destry, new arrival deputy sheriff in the wild and lawless town of Bottleneck, Old West, USA. His father was a legendary gun-totin', outlaw-shootin' lawman, but his untimely demise leads Destry Jr. to adopt a no-gun, all wisecracks and outsmartin' law enforcement policy. He arrives in town to find the local ne'er-do-well saloon entertainer (with the requisite heart of gold) (played by Marlene Dietrich) and her poker-cheating boyfriend criminal running the place, with the good people of Bottleneck at their mercy. Things unfold about as you'd expect, and it's a hokey but entirely enjoyable movie. Don't miss the show-stealing performance by Mischa Auer (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0041681/bio) as the crazy Russian second-deputy.

Vastly improved with a bottle of Pino Grigio. Or maybe that's just me.
