'nam flashbacks... or maybe just sleep deprivation

Arrived at the vietnam border at 7am, greeted by an army of hawkers offering transportation to the bus or train station, after being told by a friendly official in customs that the train station is only 1k walk I informed the hawkers that I would prefer to walk.
Pretty much all of them try and convince me that its 4ks; knowing that they dont understand all of what I am saying, I explain that the guy in customs said its 1km and proceed to walk in the general direction that was pointed out.
After asking a few shop vendors along the way, who werent annoying hawkers, where the 'choo-chooo' is, I arrived at the dodgy looking train station.

The only ticket available to hanoi is for 6pm tonight - rather daunting considering I had no sleep on the 15hr sleeper bus from kunming due to the crrraaazy driving and bumpy roads (I happened to have the worst bed, right at the back left, above the wheel, bottom sleeper - once every half hr my entire body levitates from the bed and falls back with a hard thud)

thankfully the net here is 50cAust$/hr - very thankful that I actually looked up the exchange rate before leaving china, so many hawkers try to scam pretty much everything.

and yay! lj is no longer blocked!
but nay! the internet is still bat-shit crazy slow, I think 'nam have it's own net filtering which also fucks up most pages

everyone should go to that bloody protest that im going to miss out on, I really dont want to get back to aust only to put up with the same shitty net

ok enough ranting about nothing at all...

weee sleep deprivation in the middle of some dodgy town on the edge of 'nam!

well... at least I made a good choice changing my mind about napal, wouldnt like to be in india right now :|
