Sorry for the quirky title, but I am glad to say that I am "staying alive". Here is a quick update of this past week:
Saturday: I don't remember much but a LOT of sleeping and a TON popsicles. Food: pudding.
Sunday: Was conscious for a good part of the day and actually got to watch some football. Kelly even stopped by and I stayed awake for the entire time :) Foods: popsicles, pudding, chicken & Stars soup.
Monday: More pain than previous days, but I slept a lot again - are you noticing a pattern? Food: popsicles, ice cream, mac & cheese, pudding
Tuesday: Actually got out of the house to vote (don't worry - I didn't drive). I also managed to make it through a short shopping trip to Safeway as well. Just taking baby steps.... Food: popsicles, chicken noodle soup, vanilla yogurt, pasta with parmasean.
Wednesday: Feeling pretty ok. Was up for a lot of the day, but still taking it easy of course. Darra came by and we watched some Sifl and Olly, Ren And Stimpy, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force (..number one in the hood, g). Food: popsicles, mac & cheese, pudding, ice cream
Thursday: MAJOR backslide. Felt queesy all day and slept for a lot of it. Pain was a LOT worse again, although the swelling has gone down considerably. Food: popsicles, chicken wonton soup, mac & cheese, pudding
Which brings us to today. The corners of my mouth are healing well, and the bruising on my tongue is getting better finally (although it is still numb and not all better). The stitches along the back of my throat feel really weird when I swallow (I guess mainly cause I can feel them now that the major swelling has gone down quite a bit) and I am still in a lot of pain. At least I still have the hydrocodone to last at least through Monday when I see the doctor for follow-up. I get really dizzy easily and get tired fast even just from a little bit of movement, but I am not pushing myself and I think I am doing pretty ok at this point. I just dropped my mom off at the airport, so that is a little weird that it is so quiet here now. It was actually nice having her here for the most part. Although there were some trying moments, she was very good at trying to take care of me. I think that what happened after surgery really scared her (she was in the room the entire time I was having trouble) and shook her up. Tiger keeps looking for her (how cute), but he is finally settling himself down on the couch with his bone, and I am curled up under my quilt on the infamous loveseat. Now I just have to see if I can make it through the rest on my own. :)
Feel free to call or drop by anytime (can you tell I am bored too??). Ahh...meds are kicking in...signing off for now :)
