i don't think i ever want to look at a computer screen again...
after 30 hours of mindnumbing work, i have completed a 26-page, first draft manuscript for my creative writing seminar. the story, which i've entitled The Patriarchs won't be posted until it has been thoroughly revised--in part becuase its so fucking long, but predominately becuase i worry that no one will like it. although the story is a far cry from being finished, i can't possibly relate that wonderful feeling of productivity i experienced upon the completion of the draft. 26 pages. the longest work of fiction i've ever completed. hopefully, after taking the advice of a number of my professors, i can turn this into a competitive manuscript submission for my MFA applications.
on a hopeful note, my seminar leader recently sent me the following:
Will,
Your editorial comments on "Bethlehem PA" are superb. A+ work.
You expressed yourself so clearly and argued persuasively for important
changes. You have genuine editorial skills.
All best,

perhaps i could give editing a try? god i hate thinking about the future.
nothing more.
