Earthquake
So I got a pretty big scare yesterday morning on my break at work. I checked the website I use for reading about news in Nicaragua, and found out that there had been a rather large earthquake in Nicaragua Friday night. Pictures from Nicaragua I have now been back from Nicaragua for four weeks and I am already counting the days until I go back. 74 days. That is, if I can go as planned on September 10. I can't wait! Yo soy Nicaraguense
At least I have a t-shirt that says so :) I got home from work yesterday afternoon to find a package from Nicaragua! Wheeee! Letters from some of my kids at the orphanage, letters from my best friends Abi and Ivonne, and 2 t-shirts and a bracelet from Ivonne and her husband. Beads, Beads Everywhere
I am sitting here in the ORPHANetwork office, surrounded by thousands of beads I am trying to sort out (they are all in baggies, not loose, which does make it easier. I ordered all the beads to bring with me to Nica in May to give to the Muchachas (the oldest girls) at the orphanage. Very Sad
I am really really sad right now. I just found out that Vilma, a 10-year-old girl I met once on my first trip to Nicaragua almost two years ago was just recently killed when she was hit by a car. Like a LOT of kids in Nicaragua, she made money for her family by selling things in the market or out in the street and she was out selling in the ( Read more... ) -
