'Gathering Blue,' by Lois Lowry I found out was actually the pre-cursor to 'Messenger' so I read them out of order and kinda knew everything that was going to happen. Oops. Another story about a village wrapped in mystery where a great emphasis is placed on ceremony and earning one's name and title. I really like the way these books tie in to each other and would love more in the series about other adjoining towns and the relationships between the villagers. I'm not typically a series fan, but these stories are completely whole and stand alone individually. These two stories, along with 'The Giver,' are written for young adults, but idea's behind them are just, well, really cool.
