Back in mid-September, I mentioned I was having problems with facial numbness. It's mid-November, and I'm still having problems. It's not as extreme, but still disturbing.

My co-worker and her family went on a "socially distant vacation", sticking to outdoor attractions like Cadillac Ranch, and state parks. You're still around other people to some extent, so I wasn't really thrilled with it, but I couldn't tell her not to go. I'm fast closing in on 5 years since my back surgery. So 5 years ago at this time, I was either bedridden or at a doctor's appointment. I can pass as okay most of the time, but I still have lower back pain (who doesn't) and numbness in my left leg and foot due to the nerve damage. I got my Aimovig dose this week. It's supposed to stay refrigerated (though it can stay at room temp for 7 days), so it arrived in a box with what was basically a tiny Styrofoam cooler with some of the gel ice packs in it. You do take it out to let it warm up at least a half-hour before the injection though ( Read more... )

The family hospital is in better shape. My mother missed a week of work, and she hasn't done that since 1990, when she had to have emergency surgery. She still has a cough, but isn't contagious and is able to work ( Read more... )

Last year when I had the stomach flu from hell, I ended up going to two different ERs, because the first one didn't really do anything for me other than an expensive test and meds for symptoms I was no longer dealing with. We had about half the lights out in the main part of the library for several months. They finally replaced them with LED panels. Nice and bright and.... oh em gee so very bright. They're the "blue-white" light instead of the "daylight/warm" light and it's causing problems with eye strains and headaches ( Read more... )
