I read the first omnibus edition of the comic, Resident Alien, so I could compare it with the TV series. There's an acknowledgment in the front about the series and how it had to change, with one element being having Alan Tudyk as your lead and the ability to let him do physical comedy that can't happen on the page.

I've been noticing more queer fiction being picked up by mainstream publishers in the last few years, mostly in the romance genre. Cat Sebastian writes queer historical romance (aka my catnip), such as the upcoming The Queer Principles of Kit Webb (I'm reading an ARC).

Author Rachel Caine (nee Roxanne Longstreet) passed away November 1st. She was one of my fave authors, and relatively local to me, so I saw her frequently at Dallas area conventions. I really enjoyed Andy Weir's The Martian, so when I saw a new book by him on NetGalley, I put in a request. It wasn't until I received it that I realized it won't be published until May 2021. Slippery Creatures by KJ Charles is on sale for 99 cents. I've had this one on my list for a while because I like KJ Charles, and it's a m/m story in the 1920s. I haven't read it yet, but you can read a review here.

Had to get the graphic novel the movie is based on to compare. The writer, Mike Rucka, also wrote the screenplay, and that usually means it's going to stick closely to at least the concept.
