We have one of those "video doorbells" that includes alerts if it senses motion. Usually only goes off if my dad is working on the lawnmower or something, but it went off at 5:30 a.m. this morning. Hmm? Whaa?
Pulled up the app on my phone, and there was our barn cat, Socks (he's black with white feet, so of course that's his name), sitting on top of the hood of the truck parked next to the door. From that angle, he could see in through the window in the door, to see when a human who would feed him (i.e. me, unless I'm sick) came out the back door of the house. Since he already woke me up, I went out and put food in his bowl, and he fell on it like he was starving.
So basically he managed to do the "5:30 in the morning wake up and feed me" thing without standing on my face and/or meowing piteously. I'm not sure if I should be impressed or worried that's he's going to figure out cause and effect and pull this stunt every morning.
Despite my efforts to tame him down, he's not having it. We are allowed to stay a minimum of six feet away from him and put out his food though.
