No fence Tuesday or Wednesday, and little else to show for those evenings, either. Wednesday afternoon I had an appointment at the Sleep Disorders Center down to Hoag: the doctor listened to my symptoms (when he wasn’t anticipating them) and expressed the opinion that my problem wasn’t apnea but rather Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. On my planet, it seems, the days are 26 hours long, putting me perpetually out of synch on this planet, and no wonder I fall asleep in the afternoons. They will do the sleep study to confirm, but this seems a reasonable diagnosis. Overnight sleep study's on the 28th, after which I will try the non-drug solution for DSPS, which amounts to a cold boot: keep the patient up all night (no problem); don’t let them nap the next day (okay, a little more of a problem); send them to bed at a reasonable hour; drag them out of bed at the desired wake-up time and stick them in the sun for an hour. It should reset the internal clock, for a while at least.
