Welcome to the community, and thanks for sharing your story so honestly. What grace to ask God to take away a desire rather than asking Him to fulfil it! That's an amazing testimony.
When I read about the sufferings of others with NF, I sometimes don't know how to respond, since my case is relatively mild. I've never had to take pain medication, and I've only had two surgeries. But like you, nicagirl, one surgery involved removing tumors from my spine. I was 10 at the time.
I've never had a boyfriend, serious or otherwise, but being 'in a relationship' has never been a strong desire of mine. (So I've never really felt deprived on that level.) I have good friends as well as a great church community, too, where I feel involved and welcome.
