Nearly the weekend!
I started a bullet journal this week. Figured I would give it a try. I really like the idea, and am trying not to go overboard to start. For now, I am just doing two pages per week, so it has a quick schedule at a glance, spots for to-dos, goals, gaming, and reading, and a tracker for mood. I had fun looking through layouts that people posted online, and altered my favorites to work for what I wanted. I also made a page for the month at a glance, and a lit of important to-dos and events for the month, as well as upcoming things. I am not really an artsy person (as in I have trouble even drawing stick figures), so I picked up a couple sticker packs for planners to make it look a little more interesting.
I am excited for this weekend! It's OTAKON!!! I have already gotten a quick schedule together of the things that I really want to attend, and a list of other events that sound like fun. My friend is coming down tonight and staying with me at my parents' house. My friend lives about 5 hours north of DC, but I am only a little over an hour from the city, which is less of a drive for her. She worked until 8pm, so she is going to get in kind of late, but this way she can enjoy pretty much the entire day Friday instead of spending 5 hours in the morning driving and being exhausted all day.
I'm super nervous, and I know it's kind of dumb. I've never been great at the whole making friends thing, like I've said before. I'm better at already being friends, if that makes sense. Talking to her has gotten a lot less intimidating, since we have had more to discuss as it got closer to the con. We were never super close up at school, just kind of knew each other through a friend, but she always seemed really nice and like a cool person to get to know. So I'm looking forward to getting to know her. I just hope she likes me and that we get along. I can get along with just about anyone, but I have met some people who just hate me straight off, which is really dishartening. Doesn't help that my neutral expression apparently looks homicidal :/ I swear I am a chipper person, honest! Anyway, three straight days with anyone can be stressful, and I want us both to have a great weekend. I'm sure we will, though. Otakon is a ton of fun, and she seems to be really looking forward to it, too.
Most of my D&D group is going to be there. Actually, everyone who is in the campaign I am a part of will be there! Two people in our friend group are only in the other campaign, but they are not coming. Most of them are rooming together. They invited me, but something about the idea of spending three days in the middle of summer sharing a 2-bed hotel room with 5 guys who don't exactly have good or even average hygiene habits just does not strike me as a terribly pleasant experience. We are still planning to meet up here and there for some planels, though, and to possibly grab lunch/dinner a few times together.
At some point tomorrow I need to stop by the Dealer Hall and get some Fairy Tail merch for Todd Haberkorn to sign. I also want to get something Final Fantasy XV if I can for Ray Chase and Robbie Daymond to sign, if I can find anything. Nobuo Utematsu is going to have a Q&A panel I might stop in for, and they are also doing a performance of Distant Worlds with a full symphony. I want to go, but it is during one of the other pnels that I really want to go to, so we'll have to see what I pick!
Anyway, short post is short. I hope you guys all have an awesomely awesome weekend!
