Don't have much to write today.
My July 4th was disappointing after first having been told no one wanted to bother with fireworks (even though I am always the one to buy them and set them off... guess I'm the only one who likes them?), and then arriving only to find my family had already eaten dinner without me even though we weren't going to eat until 5. Guess some people couldn't wait. So I felt very disappointed, dejected, and unwanted yet again. Theme of my family life. At least now it is less often since I finally don't live with any of them anymore.
Round 2 of Camp NaNoWriMo started on Sunday and lasts for the month. I set a writing goal of 1k words a day. I was planning to work on one sidestory, but have instead been trying to finish up book 2 of my main project. I am so very close to the end of the book, and it is when all of the exciting stuff happens, like crashing a spaceship, having the home planet be invaded by bad aliens, dramatically and tragically killing off several main characters, and destroying the entire planet. And all of that is in the last 5-8 scenes. When I planned it a month ago, I only had 5 scenes left, but I ended up adding in a smaller one, and there might be one or two more little ones at some point. I am already at 7246 words, and it feels nice to be a bit ahead of my goal.
Writing on my desktop is driving me absolutely insane. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse set that is maybe 3 years old. Shortly after I moved into my apartment in April it started acting up. The keyboard will just stop registering, almost like it is lagging, at random intervals. Eventually, after anywhere from 2-30 seconds it will suddenly toss in a bunch of random keys that I had hit while it wasn't working, and not even in the order that I had hit them. The mouse will occasinally do something similar, but far less often and for less time. I really need to pick up a new set at the store. It is so beyond frustrating. I have tried switching USB ports, moving the keyboard closer or further from the USB receiver, and even trying to limit interference from other wireless things (phone, wifi connecter USB, etc). Nothing made any noticeable difference, good or bad, so I am chalking it up to faulty old technology. Trying not to destroy my keyboard and mouse before I have a chance to get a replacement. It's difficult.
My TOS has been quietly acting up again. It was getting a lot better, to the point where it was almost unnoticeable for a while, but the last few days I will randomly get a pang of pain right in the crook of my shoulder where the nerves connect to your torso. My poor thumb today has also been feeling like it has carpal tunnel. Might just be stress tension. Don't get old and don't get nerve injuries. It's horrible. It's not unlivable, it's just constant dull annoyance that meds don't help with intermixed with an occasional feeling of being stabbed with a pen.
Anyway, I'm in kind of an eh mood, so I will wrap this up. Hope you guys have a great weekend!
