It's a different interview meme!
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!"
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on ... .
Here are the questions I got from
squeakchan1. What is your favorite scene in Naruto? Honestly? It's in the very first story arc, possibly the very first chapter, when Iruka throws himself in front of those flying blades to protect Naruto, and he's kneeling over him, bleeding on him, with this giant shuriken sticking out of his back, crying because he wasn't a good enough teacher and protector. I was hooked right then and there.
My favorite scene from the anime, that I watch over and over again, is Genma and Raidou fighting the Sound Four, and then they're all pwned and Shizune is healing them, and Genma is telling Iwashi not to give chase.... But that's because it's Genma and Raidou and blood and suffering and heroism. Heh.
2. What's your favorite thing about California? The diversity! So many cultures and people, so many ways of thinking and being, so many different types of landscape and terrain, so much to explore. California never ever bores me!
3. What first got you wanting to learn Japanese? I made friends with a Japanese couple (Goh and Noriko) in 1989 or 90 when they were living in california, and visited them in Japan in 1998. So that was maybe the start. I also love Japanese woodblock prints. But I, like many many others, didn't really get serious about it until I started watching anime and reading manga. Cowboy Bebop was the clincher. I liked a bunch of anime and manga by the time I found Bebop, but Bebop tipped me over the edge into looking for a class.
4. Of all the hair colors you've had, which is the best? Turquoise! I always wanted turquoise, from when I was a little girl, and now I have it. I think my favorite is when it's just a little darker than it is right now, when it's a light sky blue shading to rich turquoise at the ends.
5. If you could meet any character from any story, who would you want to meet? Wow, that's hard. My first instinct is to say I'd like to meet the Genma I write, but then I sort of already know him. But there's more he could tell me, so much more. If he forgave me for all the hurt I've done him... And if he brought Raidou with him...
From Tolkein's worlds, I'd like to meet Glorfindel, or one of Elrond's sons. I'd like to meet Illuvatar, but Illuvatar is more a manifestation of the ultimate Divinity than a character.
Really there are so many, I can't actually make a choice. I'll leave it at that.
