RIP: Hilly Kristal
Hilly Kristal of CBGBs has passed away.
It's said that "everyone" performed at CBGBs. I include the Gallery in that, and when you do, that includes almost everyone I know, and myself too. My first date (other than just meeting him) was at CBGB's Gallery, and my ex-husband proposed to me there as well. I helped Prof.Plum decorate the last Gallery window the week of closing. But now that Hilly is dead, well.... CBGBs has died too.
Thank you, Hilly, for 30 years on the scene - making a place for a scene to be. Your vision touched thousands upon thousands of music lovers, and probably thousands of muscians have played those stages.
