Is your heat/hot water included in your rent?
Mine always has been, but in my new apartment it's not included. I don't even know how much it will cost, since I've never encountered this situation before. I'm not complaining too much, since the apartment itself is a pretty good deal , but it does strike me as kind of weird.
Edit: There's a thermostat in the apartment, which I've also never had before (thanks, New York-- maybe one day I will have a dishwasher, too.), so that might have something to do with it. I just remembered that the building has heat controls.
