One of the nice resources being a college student here is that supposedly we can use our validated college IDs to get discount tickets to all types of shows in NYC. Since I've been a busy student (duh!), I haven't had much time nor money to make doing these things a priority, but I hope to take advantage of a few things in the next two months or so.
Anyone explain how these things work?
I don't think (don't know) if student discounts can be used online, or only at the box office, or if there's a limited time frame to get these types of seat tickets: either only within several days of the performance date desired, or the reverse: way in advance of the performance date itself. I'm sure there are also blackout dates or times, but would like information. Assumptions: I suppose student discounted tickets are limited to crappy seats, maybe sometimes standing room only, or also matinees or non-peak nights, or whatever, but these may depend on the particular show.
Misc.: A few things I'd like to really check out before it's too late is:
Big wish: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
http://www.cat2008onbroadway.com/Limited run until only June, I think. (Dying to see this cast: I hear it's great.)
Elective, just so I can finally have the experience of being at these joints: A performance at Carnegie Hall and an opera at The Met.
