EMTs

May 31, 2007 10:08

I just had a rather different moment at work.

A man came in to the "Sleep Well" testing office to bring something back. I'd talked to him a little bit yesterday, seemed like a nice guy. Unfortunately today his lips were blue and he looked poorly, and he was dizzy. Now keep in mind, there's about 6 registered nurses working in my building, and a flock of them were soon gathered. His friend was going to give him a ride to the hospital, but after he could only walk a few steps, 911 was called. They arrived, sirens and all, mere minutes later. I got booted off my hallway computer to make way for the EMTs.

Three gloriously attractive male EMTs. I know I should probably feel guilty about it, but when gut wrenchingly beautiful men walk by and start talking, man it's difficult not to notice them. (Why isn't there an EMT calendar? jsjeep4x4?)

Anyway, they're going to take good care of him. Pray that he'll be okay.

I think that's my third life experience with EMTs. Biggest one involved a stupid BMXer who drove up on the bridge divider between cars and pedestrians and did a trick that went wrong, causing him to upend and land on his head, hard. I was right there, I told his friend to go call 911. He's like, "I don't have a quarter!" Sheesh, do they teach you anything in school? "You don't need a quarter to call 911, go!" Man, it's hard to tell someone to keep still! So I stayed until they came and asked what happened.

I'm not counting a fake car crash demonstration scene in high school where I got to see the jaws of life.

All of you should take this opportunity to join with me in a round of applause for our Police, Fire, and EMT services, and for 911 dispatchers. May God keep them safe as they help keep us safe. *applause*

EDIT: In other news, through a series of internet events, I found myself looking up stretches, which I've had on my list to do for some time. I found this website that uses a Spider-Man figurine to show the stretches. It's an excellent website and has my vote. This obviously has nothing to do with the Spider-Man figurine.
