    • Listener Letter: Listener wrote in about how they relate to Shige a lot and asked what “C&R” in his liner notes mean.
Shige explained that it stands for “Call and Response” and explained a bit about the music in further detail about the 16 beat rhythm and who it’s trendy in jpop right now.

    • Listener Letter: Shige read two letters from listeners who wanted him to talk more about the morning drama, “Scarlet”, he said he watched, in which Masakado appeared.
The drama is about a woman who enters the pottery industry and loses her son to leukemia and is based on a real story. He talked about how he looked up stuff about the real story before it started and it’s amazing how great the ceramics look even through a screen. He said that he watched it everyday so it’s a little sad it’s ending, and since it’s a drama about making things he could relate to it well.

    • Listener Letter: Shige read a listener who would be going to a culinary school soon and are excited about it. They asked Shige if there’s a dish he worked hard to make and what he thinks is important in regards to cooking.
Shige said that there’s nothing really that comes to mind as to things he holds as important, though maybe “enjoyment”. He actually finds cooking itself more fun than eating the result.
He said that he doesn’t often go out and buy ingredients with a certain dish in mind, he picks the ingredients on what looks good, not thinking about what to make with them, though sometimes he gets home and changes his mind about what he wants to make.
He doesn’t often put potatoes on curry, but he gets them because they’re easy to use in a lot of things. He left them for a while and they started to sprout which are poisonous (though it’s fine if you just take them out) so he thought that he needs to use them soon. So he wanted to make something new, and remembered that it’s easy to make gnocchi so he made that and it was fun. There are a lot of steps but they’re all very simple. He joked that gnocchi may make an appearance in one of his novels soon.

    • This was another solo radio week due to covid-19 and explained how he’s in the studio but that they are being very careful.

    • Listener Letter: A listener wrote in asking Koyama to talk about Animal Crossing more.
Koyama said that normally he doesn’t play games and this is the first game he’s bought since super famicom.
He said that he named his island “Koyama-jima” and his character’s name is Keiichiro. He said that when he started he really didn’t understand the rules and being told right off the back, “pay off this loan” he was like, “What??” and didn’t understand how to pay it off. But he started by fishing and then digging holes but he’s really bad at catching grasshoppers.
So he paid off his first loan, and then right away he had another loan to pay off!
K: That tanuki-chan! The tanuki-chan looks super cute, but he really asks for more and more money, doesn't he! Ah not money- bells.
He said that he still doesn’t really understand the difference between bells and miles either. His pocket gets full really fast so his house of full of things like tires, his house has just become a storage space.
Also he really was unable to find iron at first, so he looked up how to find it and saw that you’re supposed to hit rocks with your shovel.
K: No no, hold on! It’s dangerous to hit rocks with a shovel!
So he didn’t even have the concept that you could hit rocks with your shovel in his mind at all. He also didn’t know that it’s ok to shake the trees. There’s a lot of things that he’s been taught you shouldn’t do, but if you don’t do them then you can’t collect supplies.
He said that he had a flimsy fishing rod, and then bought a more sturdy one with miles. He’s been able to catch more fish than even Shige can, though he catches a lot of sea bass. He talked about how every once in awhile you catch a really big fish, and when he did he couldn’t help but let out a noise like “OoooOOoooO”
He said that he didn’t know what to do next, and asked Gai-san what he should do about fruit. Koyama said that his native fruit is peaches and he ate them all. He also asked where you can go if there’s an airport on the island and Gai-san explained that you can travel to other islands using miles and you can also travel to your friends’ islands and have them come to your islands. Koyama asked what he could do if he were to go to Gai-san’s island and he explained that you can get fruits you don’t have on your island and explained all the different kinds there are to Koyama. Koyama said that he wants pears and asked what you do with them if not eat them? Give them to the tanuki? Gai-san explained that if you plant them then a tree with that fruit will grow and Koyama was surprised and asked Gai-san to give him fruit then. Koyama had him explain how to go to his island and said he would message him later. He said that he has a heart shaped pond on his island. He also asked how he can get other clothes, he has a school uniform right now but he wants a red plaid top that’s “Koyama-length” and Gai-san explained that as you advance you’ll get a tailor shop on the island where you can design your own clothes.
Koyama also said that he’s playing Splatoon and he got to rank 20 and this is the first time he’s played against another player online. When they beat him it’s really aggravating, but that’s what also makes it interesting.

    • He said that the day he’s filming this is Apr 15th, and last night he listened to his solo radio show so he listened to it as it broadcast. The first song he played was “New Story” and it made him tear up, maybe because of everything going on,  though it’s embarrassing to admit. It made him think about how much music can move you and think about what song would cheer up the listeners, which is why he picked the next song.

    • Coming back from the song, Koyama was talking about Animal Crossing again, specifically about the museum saying that when he went inside there was hardly anything there and he would do his best.

Koyama said that he had been watching and it made him crack up.

    • Listener Letter: Listener wrote in about “Rental Nanmoshinai Hito” and asked Koyama about how he said that he sets an alarm 2 minutes before it starts and they remembered him saying in a magazine that he did it for Shige’s drama too. They asked if he does that every time he’s watching another member’s drama in real time.
Koyama said that he does, and he does it for his radio show too. If he sets it for 5 minutes it’s too long of a wait. With 2 minutes he has time to get a drink and eclair and go to the bathroom before watching. He also said that he messaged Massu as soon as it started, during the scene where he’s drinking melon soda. Massu replied “Thank you” within 3 seconds. He didn’t send his thoughts on the drama at the time because he wanted to share them here.
He said that he thought the role was perfect for him and it’s a very wonderful and watchable drama. He said that if it were him, he wouldn’t be able to do nothing, he’d be “Rent someone who’d do anything” or with the scene where he’s asked to just walk to work with the guy he’d probably end up trying to be like “Let’s go complain!” so it’s really a role that he wouldn’t be suited to.
He was also watching and wondering when will “Beautiful” play? When he was thinking, “Ah, maybe now!” it went to commercial instead.
He said it was a really good way to spend time and that he’d talk more about it another time.

    • When they feel, “Ah, this is youth” - Massu shared how he was the anchor runner for the relay in high school. He received the baton at third place but ran past the other two runners to emerge first. Everyone was so happy and all came together for a group photo, but he started feeling awful and went to the toilet, so he wasn’t in the group photo at all.
For Tegoshi, it was once when he overslept (M: This feels like youth already!) so he tried to go in a taxi by the other entrance since there’ll be someone at the main entrance catching the late comers, but he totally got caught because the teachers expected that and there was someone at the other entrance too. So he had to sweep the staff room as punishment.
Sakura said she had nothing to share because she had nothing in her youth. They tried to ask if she had any love stories to share, like being in love with a sempai, and she said somehow, even though she was in a co-ed school, she received a lot of love letters from female kouhais.

    • If there are any traits that may be perceived as flaws, but they see it positively. For Tegoshi, it’s how he can’t be nice to everyone and can’t lie. Because he’s in the entertainment industry, it’s really better if he learnt to put on a good face before everyone, but he can’t, and that might be actually how he got to become friends with some very particular people.
Massu wondered what it was for him.
      M: ...kind… hmm but-
T: I can’t believe you said that about yourself.
Sakura: People who call themselves kind are really something.
M: I think it’s “being kind” for me.
Sakura: This is your flaw, isn’t it.
      T: HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.
      M: HEY!
T: I’m shocked by how you said that about yourself.
      M: I’m kind, but don’t think that’s being indecisive.
T: So you think kind is a trait of yours, so how is that perceived as a flaw?
M: Like how I care too much about people’s feelings?
T: Sorry, we’ve been together for 16 years, but not once have I felt that!
M: No? That’s just because there’s no way anyone can be kind to Tegoshi.
T: Why! You should be because I’m one of your members!
They tried saying how Massu isn’t being really kind because if he truly is, he’d be kind to everyone instead of choosing who to be kind to, to the extent of being cheated even.
      M: Yeah that’s me.
Sakura: There’s no way you would be cheated, Masuda-san. You’re extremely cautious!
Massu started saying that might be his trait then, bringing the analogy of how some people would build a bridge of rocks, then knock it as they cross to be sure it won’t fall apart. For Massu, he’d be so cautious he’d knock the entire bridge down before even crossing it. That’s a good trait, isn’t it?
For Sakura, it’s how she can be very into something, and can become very knowledgeable about certain things (like sentai rangers), but some people might be uncomfortable with how much she’s into that thing. Tegomass said it’s those people who are uncomfortable that aren’t being nice, because there’s nothing wrong with liking something a lot and becoming a pro of it, that’s how some really great legends started out and we should never judge or deny people because of what they’re into.
They continued saying how Massu should not have called himself kind and he just kept defending himself saying he’s never met anyone kinder than himself

    • The listener has a friend who somehow always ends up getting food stains (like soy sauce/ketchup) on their clothes, does this happen to them? And how do they prevent getting their clothes stained when eating things like bolognese? Tegoshi and Sakura said they’re both the type to get food stains on their clothes so they can’t comment too much. Both of them have to wear bibs when eating before photo shoots so as to keep the borrowed items clean. Massu agreed Tegoshi has the image of having stains on his stuff, but said he doesn’t care about the stains himself that much. (T: Don’t lie! You look like you’ll care about it very much!) Massu explained if it’s things he can wash he’s fine, but if he got wine stains on his leather shoes for instance, he might feel upset. He shared how once he got an entire pot of mizutaki on himself and he couldn’t get that out of his clothes, but even then he only had a slightly irritated look. (T: That’s only natural) They said how there’re some really fashionable bibs these days and it’s fine to just wear one while eating

    • The listener doesn’t like how you can see the nipples through their tshirts some men wear. Does it bother them?
Tegoshi talked about how tennis player Sharapova’s nipples can be seen sometimes and he found that sexy. They wondered if the listener was bothered by seeing the nipples (through translucent tees) or the shape showing through. Neither of them get bothered by that, and Tegoshi shared that he gets more bothered by pit stains. Massu said probably everyone gets bothered by that. He then said how he gets more bothered about the tshirt/tank top that gets seen under thinner shirts, and he finds that kind of fashion lame. It’d be more fashionable to wear two shirts instead. Tegoshi said there were students who would purposely wear black tees under their uniforms because they thought it was cool. Neither of them care, but talked about how the office workers might. And concluded that while Sakura might be bothered, Tegomass doesn’t get bothered by that at all

    • If they want to call their life partners by name, or by “Daddy” or “Mummy” when they have children/a family of their own. Tegoshi would want to call them by name as then he’d want to keep their relationship as one of them being partners, rather than just seeing each other as the parent to their children. Both of them agreed that it’ll probably be nice to use the terms separately, like “Daddy”/”Mummy” before the kids, if that helps the conversation, then by first names when it’s just the two of them

    • Have they grown any produce of their own, and/or what would they want to grow now if they could? Massu said he probably grew some cherry tomatoes for school at the balcony at home, but can’t remember for sure. He also shared how he faked some school reports of the growth of morning glories (M: Don’t follow this though!) because he forgot to observe them. Tegoshi tried offering “dog” as his answer, but the rest said it has to be a plant. Tegoshi said he had some moss from the location shoot with Koyama for “Shonen Club Premium”, but they died really soon. They tried asking if Sakura did anything but she didn’t, and they said Aracchi (the previous assistant) could, and they said very loudly that Sakura can’t do anything while Aracchi could do everything! • The difference between when they wear both sides and a single side of the ear monitors during music programmes/concerts etc. - he first explained why they wear ear monitors, because in big venues, there can be delays to the audio they hear depending on which part of the venue they are at. So the ear monitors allow all of them to hear the same audio at the same time so nobody goes off sync. Another function is to help them hear the balance of the audio they want to hear, like their own voices louder, or the band louder etc. But if he puts on both ear monitors, he’d only hear his own version of the audio, so he likes leaving one off, so he can hear the environmental sounds too, and he can feel the live atmosphere while still monitoring the audio
