Do I need a baking icon? Am I going to turn into that person?

I kind of wanted the next bread I attempted to be this skillet rosemary garlic loaf that
shadesofbrixton made so freaking appealing, but I don't actually have a cast-iron skillet. So instead, last night I started the starter for this sucker, despite my reservations about using a recipe from ~a brand.

Gang, it is going like gangbusters. It looks so beautiful and gorgeous, and it's going exactly like the recipe says it should, and omg omg I'm going to have this gigantor glorious loaf this afternoon and I've been documenting the whole thing like a nerdzo, so here's a preview:

Those gluten strands, tho!

My therapist successfully bribed me into working on two of the three things that have been weighing on me for literal months, so long as it was an hour or 15 minutes at a time. The nice thing about this recipe above, actually, is that there is about a 2.5-hour period (this morning) that requires rest periods just long enough for you to accomplish something, like washing the dishes or grabbing a shower. Hurrah for instilling basic rhythms and natural Pomodoros into my day!

One thing I accomplished was today's Things I'm Verbing, which I'm pretty pleased with as a thing. Why we need mammoths, delayed swanhood and dictator chic is all slow journalism I've been saving to read, plus it features maybe my favorite header image yet.

Finally, while I was avoiding working on the Stuff yesterday, I started tackling some piles of Things that live in the corners of my apartment. Some of them are little labeled boxes that I packed up in 2008 and haven't opened since. I've discovered boatloads of interesting pins (including big ones from Grant Park, Election Night), lots of small fandom items (a tiny Impala from
hope and a tiny Dean's amulet from I want to say...
silveraspen?
phoenixchilde? who found the Dean's amulet?), and loads of photos and postcards, some going back as far as college and my summer in San Francisco. One of them was this wonderful, wonderful photo of me, Mom and Gus, probably just after I flew in (note the office casual). I look hugely dorky, but we're all also so, so happy. I need a good frame for this.

So now I have about an hour to work on something else before the bread needs attention again. I'm sure I can find something. Hi. <3
