I don't know what time I actually fell asleep last night, but I sure woke up at 10:30 today. Feeling very content and well-rested, mind you! That's a plus, at least. Another plus: In addition to realizing why I don't like slowtime RP (flow-state storytelling, please!), I'm pretty sure I figured out a way to fix a major structure thing that's been holding me back about my Big Band Witches novel. (New people, too-vague elevator pitch: the Weird Sisters as the Andrews Sisters. Incidentally, a WWII staging of the Scottish Play would be my absolute favorite.) What's hilarious to me is I think what was holding me back was actually a
Geek Social Fallacy, namely No. 5, "Friends Do Everything Together."
We have to presume the Weird Sisters in Macbeth aren't always together, and neither do my girls have to be. This can also help me skip all the origin-story stuff I was agonizing over and just barrel right into the action, not to mention spread out the plot points among the three and then have them come together periodically in pursuit of the larger goal. It also solves the problem of "Jewish witch during the Holocaust, knows the Holocaust is happening, can't do anything about it because of goals of other two witches/greater group," one of my big problems with Captain America, frankly. (Jewish Bucky Barnes, you've ruined me a lot. ♥)
Okay, anyway, this is rambly and won't mean anything to the vast majority of you. But I'm energized and excited all over again. Huzzah!
More sensical and topical: Twice a week, I do news roundups at my RealName.com*, called "
Things I'm Verbing." They go out on Tuesdays and Fridays, and to give you a sense of what they're usually like, today's is called "
Fake people, entitled men and literal Danish blanket forts." Sometimes I link them here, but there's also a DW RSS feed, if anyone cares for that sort of thing:
thingsimverbing_feed. I usually link a lot of big and tough news, in addition to more uplifting or fun pieces, so just consider this a blanket advisory that you're going to see hard things there. I think they're important, though, and I really like doing this, for a given value of "like."
*A note on Real Name Stuff: Please don't link my full name to anything called "newredshoes." I know I'm posting publicly here, because I don't care if fandom knows it, but I'd just rather not make it too easy for outside folks to actively make the connection.
Right, given how late I slept today, more and other things to get done. Happy Friday, friends!
