Third day in about as many weeks I woke up too early and exhausted still, rode the train for an hour in the rain and set up shop at the shop only to have someone else waltz merrily in and ask what I'm doing there. I don't understand what business model relies on "Oh, you just have to keep checking the schedule!" to see if things change (especially if I've never been told which online document is the definitive schedule), but at the very least, I made my displeasure known and turned down the great opportunity to come in for the magical 4-8 shift I'd been relocated to tomorrow. Instead, I will be seeing Hidden Figures with some college friends, as planned. (Hilariously, I only knew I was "working" today because last time this happened, I made Friend Trudy go through the schedule out loud so I could write it all in my planner. So much for that!)
I'm still super tired, though. Objectively I know I still have so much to do -- transcribe a 48-minute interview and then write a profile, write up a 1200-word article on Hard Times, keep cleaning/purging/organizing my living space -- but I really might just sleep for the rest of the afternoon, before I head back out to hang with a friend.
Meanwhile, it seems like there's good evidence that
SUP has moved LJ's physical servers to Russia, which opens up users to all kinds of horrible data-selling and political action, if we're thinking worst-case scenario. I've been meaning to get rid of my many LJs for a long time, but I'm always reluctant to delete, you know. Archives. (All those RP accounts!
brandybuck, created in 2002! Random fannish communities I modded for a minute and then dropped!) But I'm going to get rid of them all over the weekend. So if you follow me primarily on LJ... Yeah. I'll keep warning everybody, but this is coming, friends. <3
