I started reading The Artist's Way last night after a dear friend sent it to me. Today I did the morning pages, three handwritten pages of stream-of-consciousness gunk to get out of my head. I think it worked, although it was hard as hell.
I found out I've been accepted to the Amy Kurzweil Graphic Memoir for Writers class! More comics-making! Autobiography! A really accomplished teacher my own age! I'm pretty thrilled.
This book club I'm in, sorta, was supposed to maybe meet on Thursday, and maybe at my apartment. Turns out everyone's super busy, so it's being pushed to next week. (Good thing, too, because it turns out that I was reading the author's book Stiff, about corpses, rather than Spook, about the science of the afterlife!). This frees up my evening for something I'd been gazing wistfully at on my Facebook newsfeed: a Trio Medieval concert at Carnegie Hall. So I'm going! Scandinavian women singing early church music and folk songs! I've seen them before, and they were my original inspiration for singers as witches, as world-makers. They're stunning. It's been a long, long time, and they mean a lot to me, and I'm very excited about this too.
Before that concert, I will probably have ended my first training shift at Friend Trudy's Shop, which will need a code name. Money, incoming at last!
In about an hour, I will be able to enjoy this slow-cooker Korean beef, which may or may not be bulgogi-esque.
By the way, did you hear about Chuck Berry?
