Yuletide Letter '15: Real life, weird life and weird realism

Oct 24, 2015 10:29

Yuletide writer, hello! I am so excited for all this. Thank you for volunteering to write one of these fandoms! My first priority is that you have fun doing this - the writer having fun makes everything the best. My needs are pretty simple: I love characters who are genuine and genuinely fond of each other, and I enjoy stories that are really committed to the world they're in. My Yuletide tag is "yuletide," imaginatively, if that should prove instructive in any way. Same with "fic recs."

For sexy things and relationships, stuff I'm not opposed to but that isn't necessary (I'm a great proponent of genfic and the excellence of genfic), I need to have at least one woman involved, so my preferences lean toward m/f and f/f. I love enthusiastic bisexuals, and I love people having fun. (My own smut tends to be character-heavy and emotional and/or giddy.) I am not really interested in playing with power or control, but I love trust and I love self-discovery. I'm okay with emotional turmoil, but in general, I like my fictional sex overall pain-free.

Right! That's me. I hope you have a great time with these, and I hope your Yuletide writer is as A+ as you are! ♥

AGENT CARTER RPF
My favorite RPF in the whole world that never, ever gets written is "making-of shenanigans." Agent Carter has a cast that is ripe for shenanigans. They are all highly trained and committed artists who want to tell the best story possible, but Hayley keeps beating up the stunt guys and pulling social media pranks and I just. Want the joy of being an ensemble combined with the fundamental hilarity of everything that cast is and does. If you want to bring in Chris Evans, by all means, please do! If you want to bring in Bridget Regan or any of the other cast members as main characters, I am all for it - I ran out of nomination slots, sorry! If you want to throw in scorching femslash, I am also for that, whether Hayley/Lyndsy or Hayley/Bridget (or hey, why limit yourself?). (Though he's not a character option either, I am not at all opposed to Chris/Hayley, bros in love.) But I am so here for costume porn and combat goofs and blooper reel material and breaking the fourth wall. And James D'Arcy being a sidekick, and Dominic Cooper (and his traveling mustache) being Howard Stark.

AMELIE
I would love a horror or magical realist take on the film, pre-, during or post-canon - specifically, "Nino likes monsters. Amelie is a monster." Same sweetness! But with needs and violence and teeth. (My favorite monsters are shape-shifters and creatures, rather than, say, vampires or zombies.) Side option: I listen to the soundtrack a lot, and if there's some way to have the music actually be a part of the story, that could be amazing too. Basically, a Very Wrong Take on a very beloved film would be awesome times a million. Please nothing like rape or dub-con, but if you want things to get sexy, that's cool, as long as Amelie herself gets the love and satisfaction she deserves. Gen or essentially gen is also wonderful. Again, ran out of nomination slots, so if there are other characters from the film you want to bring in, please do.

FEL DEL AV GARDEN
My needs here are so simple. I love the stylish, full-tilt, downtrodden yet eternally hopeful world in which three almost-good-enough diamond thieves just can't seem to catch a break. This song is so energetic and free and graceful and joyous. I'd be thrilled to see however you interpret the video, in both plot and character. I definitely love magical realism, urban fantasy, decopunk, dieselpunk, anything that makes or integrates weirdness into the real world. Is this present-day Sweden, or some other time or place? How did the guys from Movits! get into the heist business? (Johan and Anders Rensfeldt are brothers - is it a family business? Is it Zacke's fault?) How do they pick themselves up from yet another failed scheme? Why are the swing dancers, anyway?
