Because a scary amount of tab-closing needs to happen.

I haven't been seeing too too many rec posts yet, and I've only poked at the beginning of the list myself, but I'm sure a few stories are already destined to be the big winners, so, yes, you should read the one where Susie Derkins plays Calvinball with Death and the one where Biblical characters reclaim their narratives over Christmas. But here are a few others I've found that I'm enjoying, so, for micro-brewed Batch #1 of Yuletide recs:

Dead Like Me: Leap Before You Look (1200 words)
This is actually one of my earliest Yuletide requests, for fic about Betty and Rube and their friendship/working relationship! It's short and episodic, but it's great. Betty, I still miss you!

Dogma: No Need for Wrath (1045 words)
Loki and Bartelby stuck in Wisconsin, bored out of their minds, and surrounded by dirt mounds. Actually, what it really means to be in Wisconsin before Europeans show up to screw everyone over.

The Epic of Gilgamesh: Shine the Evening Star Down on the Joyful (1600 words)
Every year the Sumerian/Mesopotamian mythology fandom produces some really neat femslash, and this story is no exception.

20th Century RPF: A Super Mouse in Time (1800 words)
Krushchev visits Disneyland. Really, you don't need much more than that.

The Artist: Ingénue-ity (3600 words)
Peppy and George, post-film, friendship. It captures the atmosphere and the tone of the film well, and I enjoyed the banter.

Legally Blonde: Serious (8800 words)
Really lovely femslash! Elle/Vivian, figuring out what they want from each other. That could not be a blander rec, so I'll let
byzantienne convince you.
