SO MUCH GOOD.

I don't know if I'll have a chance to go through the Yuletide archive (and all the recs!) until late tomorrow, when I'm back in Chicago, but that's okay, because I have LUCKED. OUT. with the TWO glorious stories I got this year!

FIRST, someone wrote me glorious, hilarious Bloom County fic! And none of that RAP! imagines Bloom County in the present day, with social media, sequestration and senatorial blowhards all wreaking havoc. The absurdities are just spot-on, the ending is beyond perfect and I'm so happy to have finally gotten fic in this fandom. You should read it and tell the author how great it is!“Good morning. W. A. Thornhump III here, Chairman of the Board. In the interests of promoting wealth and prosperity for all, ‘Bloom County Features, Inc.’ is happy to announce that we will be moving a large portion of our operations to Funafuti, Tuvalu. As is standard practice in that beautiful country, the newest members of BCFI will receive 73¢ worth of crafting supplies a day for their labor. We anticipate that most of our new employees will use these supplies to create ties for fly-fishing, but some may also choose to make jazzy throw pillows.

“As for our current employees, there is no reason for concern. We anticipate limiting domestic job losses to two, or perhaps three, thousand positions. Tops. Festively colored slips will go out to affected employees shortly before Christmas.”
I was also lucky enough to receive a truly lovely piece of Joe Armstrong/Michelle Dockery RPF, With History Written Boldly on his Face, and it's so -- comfortable with the relationship and with itself. It's what I'd want for them, and so what the Percys would never get. When I finished, I was just so happy sigh. You should also tell this fantastic person how great this story is.Between her and Joe, Michelle's the one with fame to contend with. It's worse in New York and L.A than in London. In London, she can still go and do her shopping; people leave her alone. In the states, it's starting to feel a bit...astronomical (it's Hayley's word, but it's a good one. Apt). They've never been there together, but she imagines that Joe would end up lost in her wake.

He slips in quietly. Tom's already rung to apologise for being late. Joe lets himself in, disappears into the bedroom for a few minutes and comes back in a fresh t-shirt, smiling. He doesn't know Hayley as well as Michelle does, but his smile is warm. He blushes when he leans across the table to kiss her cheek. Michelle's standing at the stove and Joe steps in beside her, his hand finding the curve of her waist.
HAPPY CRIMBLE, GUYS. The sun is shining here in Seattle, and it's going to be a lovely day.
